ABOUT
My name's Tom, a keen and competitive amateur cyclist living on the edge of the New Forest National Park. I work with athletes of all abilities, but mostly those who are managing injuries or looking to optimise performance when training for races or events. I provide on-site support for athletes at mass participation events (mostly Triathlons, Duathlons and Sportives) in the south of England throughout the year.
"Swannie" Sport is a nod to soigneurs in the cycling world - with massage being a key component of the role.
What can I expect from Sports Massage?
Sports massage encompasses many different techniques designed to manipulate soft tissues. Palpation (touch), visual examination and your feedback can help identify potential problem areas - primarily muscle tension or pain, whilst also improving posture, mobility and reducing the effects of DOMS. The psychological effects of massage are not to be ignored either, potentially reducing stress and improving focus in sport.
I'm trained in several techniques including myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and therapist assisted passive stretching.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss in more details the specific techniques I use and how they may be able to help you.
